10 YEARS

Como assim? Já passaram 10 anos? DEZ ANOS?

É, isso mesmo. Parece que foi ontem mas a verdade é que sou já um dinossauro no que a isto de blogs diz respeito. Mas comecemos pelo início. Tinha acabado a licenciatura, tinha tido um primeiro contacto com o mundo de trabalho brutal e estava prestes a voltar aos estudos, para fazer mestrado. O gosto pela moda vinha de longe. Lembro-me que na altura seguia já alguns blogs, quase todos brasileiros, e poucos ainda cá em Portugal. Pensei que se eles podiam escrever sobre moda e coisas que com ela estivessem relacionadas, porque não poderia eu também? E agora lembro que isto não foi nada mais nada menos que eu mesma a pôr-me em cima de um palanque, tal como o professor Augusto disse numa aula da licenciatura de design de produto. Agora que penso nisto e naquela pergunta que ele fez, o "Sabem afinal o que são os blogs?", e que na altura ninguém soube responder, e ele, com algum desdém, lá explicou que eram nada mais nada menos que formas que as pessoas tinham arranjado de se pôr a jeito de serem vistas e ouvidas, que tudo isto podia nem ter acontecido. É tão verdade quando dizem que há professores que nos marcam... Achei na altura aquilo muito acertado, também, quem ousaria naquele momento, mesmo que em pensamento, discordar do enfant terrible daquela faculdade? No one!! Achei que ridículos seriam então os bloggers, com as suas opiniões que talvez ninguém quisesse saber, estarem ali a falar para o boneco. Certo ou errado, a verdade é que essa ideia se dissipou completamente da minha mente quando decidi finalmente criar o JO & COMPANY STYLE. Afinal, se os outros podiam falar do que gostavam porque não poderia eu?

O objetivo era, sempre foi e nunca deixará de ser, partilhar com quem me lê aquilo que eu gosto e penso sobre moda e outras coisas tantas que me apeteça. Sei que, na altura em que comecei, era difícil imaginar que isto acabasse por se tornar a profissão de algumas pessoas, que depois dos blogs apareceriam outras redes sociais que lhe roubariam o protagonismo. Ainda assim, este é de longe o formato que mais me apaixona. Sempre gostei de fotos (oi Fotolog, alguém se lembra ainda?), e sempre gostei de escrever. Cada vez mais até. Por isso desengane-se quem acha que este é um formato morto passados estes loucos 10 anos.

Continuem desse lado, vou continuar aqui, em cima do palanque, a dar-vos letra. Sintam-se à vontade para ler e opinar! Adoro ter-vos desse lado!!

Like this? Has it been 10 years? TEN YEARS?

Yes, that's right. It seems like yesterday but the truth is that I'm already a dinosaur as far as blogging is concerned. But let's start at the beginning. I had just finished my degree, had had my first and amazing contact with the world of work and was about to go back to school, to pursue a master's degree. The taste for fashion came from afar. I remember that at the time I was already following some blogs, almost all of them Brazilian, and few of them here in Portugal. I thought if they could write about fashion and stuff that was related to it, why couldn't I too? And now I remember that this was nothing more or less than me putting myself on top of a platform, as Professor Augusto said in a product design class. Now that I think about this and his question, "Do you really know what blogs are?", and at that time no one knows what to answer, and then he explained that it was just a way people had arranged to be seen and heard, that all this might not even have happened. It's so true when they say that there are professors who mark us... I thought that was very right at the time, too, who would dare at that moment, even in thought, to disagree with the enfant terrible of that college? No one!! I thought how ridiculous are bloggers, with their opinions that maybe nobody wanted to know, to be there talking to the puppet. Right or wrong, the truth is that this idea completely dissipated from my mind when I finally decided to create the JO & COMPANY STYLE. After all, if others could talk about what they liked why couldn't I?

The goal was, always was and will never cease to be, to share with those who read me what I like and think about everything in fashion and other things that I like. I know that, when I started, it was hard to imagine that this would end up become the profession of some people, that after blogs, other social networks would appear ant they would rob it's protagonism. Still, this is by far the format that I'm most passionate about. I've always liked photos (hi Fotolog, does anyone still remember?), and I've always liked writing. More and more even. So let anyone think that this is a dead format after these crazy 10 years.

Lista do mês inteiramente dedicada à época de saldos. Porque esta que vos escreve, forreta que é, adora uma boa pechincha!! Bem, na verdade não gosto é de gastar dinheiro mal gasto, se sei que posso comprar com desconto então, porque não? Todos estes itens estão com desconto, à exceção de um. Tenho-os a todos, à exceção de um também. Tudo bons achados. Apanhe-os se conseguir!

1 - Sou fã de parcerias entre marcas de moda e marcas que nada têm a ver com roupa em geral. Acho um piadão! Acho que estas coisas têm sempre o seu quê de exclusividade, porque não são assim tão comuns, não são peças que encontramos todas as estações, muitas vezes é uma maneira de termos acesso a marcas mais caras a um preço acessível (como é o caso das parcerias da H&M com marcas de renome na moda), e por isso gosto de ter. Tenho já algumas coisas deste género, muitas vezes t-shirts e sweats com pinturas de aclamados artistas, logos de marcas como a Coca-Cola ou a Pepsi, e não me fico pela roupa, quem se lembra da minha busca pelas peças de mobiliário parceria entre a IKEA e o maravilhoso Virgil Ablo? Bem, nesse seguimento, e como devem entender, não podia deixar escapar esta parceria também. Depois de saber que esta peça em questão é 100% algodão, 50% dele orgânico, e made in Portugal, uiiii, não tentem nem segurar-me. É uma coleção para homem, encontrei muito poucos exemplares destas t-shirts da Assouline by Zara nas lojas, e mesmo no site já não abundam, mas claro que comprei para o homem cá de casa. Hummm, sou menina para lhe assaltar a caixinha das t-shirts, ele que se cuide!

2 - Quem não resiste a brilhos põe a mão no ar! Estou a ver algumas mãos levantadas aí desse lado certo?! Certo!! Eu bem sei. Então, e se falarmos de brilhos com origem em cristais Swarovski? Continuamos com a mão no alto? Mais alto ainda, certamente! Bem, só tenho a dizer-vos que se estão com vontade de aumentar a vossa coleção de anéis é imprescindível que se dirijam já a uma loja ou ao site, porque os tamanhos estão a voar. Comprei este, Vittore Half Ring em tom ouro, que é bem mais bonito ao vivo e a cores do que assim na foto, mas difícil foi escolher entre as três cores disponíveis! Na verdade queria era compra-los a todos!

3 - Se me seguem no instagram já sabem que eu adoro a escrita da Elisabeth Adler. Escreve romances como ninguém, daqueles que nos agarram e nos fazem querer ler mais e mais e mais. Já li alguns livros dela e adorei todos eles. Desde então quero ler mais porque sei que vou gostar certamente. Este em particular, "Encontra-me em Itália", é a junção de três títulos da autora, todos eles neste país maravilhoso e idílico. "Casamento em Veneza", "Viagem a Capri" e "Regresso a Itália". Destes três li apenas o último, que aliás foi emprestado e considero comprar para ter para mim. Na verdade não comprei este pack de 3 em 1 porque acho mais bonito ter os livros separadamente. Manias minhas, talvez mude de ideias e compre este "pack". Mas se não são de manias como eu podem aproveitar as promoções que o Continente tem feito em livros e agarrar já este exemplar, terão leitura para as férias de verão, e vão ficar satisfeitos. Aposto!!

4 - Fui só eu quem não reparou nesta parceria mal ela saiu? Já lá vai mais de meio ano. Entretanto confinamentos e lojas fechadas, fiquei sem conseguir ir a uma loja onde pudesse cheirar todos os 8 perfumes desta parceria entre a Zara e Jo Malone. Pontaria certeira a minha, quando as lojas abriram e consegui finalmente entrar numa Zara, lá em meados de abril, acho, nem um frasquinho de amostra tinham. Tive de controlar a minha curiosidade e esperar mais um pouco. Não queria nada comprar o Discovery Set, na verdade. Quando finalmente consegui cheirar todos estes EDP dei por mim a não conseguir escolher o meu preferido. Como os perfumes têm um comportamento diferente nos papéis de tester e na pele olhem, decidi comprar mesmo o Discovery Set e tenho testado ultimamente. Em breve contov-os o que acho!

5 - Calção rima com verão. É motivo suficiente para termos esta peça no nosso armário nos dias quentes? No armário ou na mala de viagem, pois claro! Se procuram uma peça básica, que vos sirva para ir à praia, para ficar a relaxar na esplanada, ou mesmo para ir dar uma saída, de dia ou de noite, acreditem que este modelo vos vai servir na perfeição. Acho que é daqueles modelos que facilmente transitam da praia para o jantar de sábado à noite, basta mudar o calçado ou os acessórios. Estes calções em particular, não comprei, mas experimentei na loja e adorei tanto que recomendei à minha irmã. Ela sim, já os tem e já quer em mais cores, porque são lindos, baratos e 100% algodão. Estão esgotados no site mas na loja do Mar Shopping eram imensos ainda. Corram!

Monthly list entirely dedicated to the sales season. Because the one who writes you, petty as she is, loves a good bargain!! Well, actually what I don't like is spending money badly, if I know I can buy it with a discount, why not? All of these items have discounts except one. I have all of them except one too. All good discoveries. Catch them if you can!

1 - I'm a fan of partnerships between fashion brands and brands that have nothing to do with clothing in general. I think it's a funny thing! I think these things always have their exclusive feel, because they are not that common, they are not pieces that we find every season, it's often a way of having access to more expensive brands at an affordable price (as is the case of partnerships of H&M with renowned brands in fashion), and that's why I like to have them. I already have some things like this, often t-shirts and sweats with paintings by acclaimed artists, logos from brands like Coca-Cola or Pepsi, and I don't stop with clothes, who remembers my search for the partnership pieces of furniture between IKEA and the wonderful Virgil Ablo? Well, following that, and as you may understand, I couldn't let this partnership slip either. Once you know that this piece in question is 100% cotton, 50% of it organic, and made in Portugal, uiii, don't even try to hold me back. It's a men's collection, I found very few copies of these Assouline by Zara t-shirts in stores, and even on the site they are not plentiful, but of course I bought them for the man of the home. Hmmm, I'm a girl to rob this t-shirt from his t-shir box, if he don't take care!

2 - Anyone who can't resist glare puts his hand in the air! I see some hands up there on that side right?! Right!! I know you very well. So, what if we talk about sparkles originating from Swarovski crystals? Do we still have our hands in the air? Louder still, indeed! Well, I just have to tell you that if you are in the mood to increase your collection of rings, it's essential that you go to a store or website now, because sizes are flying. I bought this one, Vittore Half Ring in gold tone, which is much more beautiful live and in color than in the picture, but it was difficult to choose between the three available colors! I actually wanted to buy them all!

3 - If you follow me on instagram you already know that I love Elisabeth Adler's writing. She writes novels like no one else, the ones that grab us and make us want to read more and more and more. I've read some of her books and loved them all. Since then I want to read more because I know I will definitely like it. This one in particular, "Find me in Italy", is the combination of three titles by the author, all of them in this wonderful and idyllic country. "Wedding in Venice", "Trip to Capri" and "Return to Italy". Of these three I have read only the last one, which by the way was borrowed and I am considering buying it for myself. I didn't actually buy this 3 in 1 pack because I think it's nicer to have the books separately. Things of mine mind, maybe I change my oppinion and I buy this "pack". But if you are not maniacs like me, you can take advantage of the promotions and grab this issue now, you will have reading for the summer holidays, and you will be satisfied. I bet!!

4 - Was it just me who didn't notice this partnership as soon as it left? It's been over half a year now. However confinement and closed stores, I was unable to go to the store where I could smell all 8 perfumes of this partnership between Zara and Jo Malone. When the stores opened and I finally managed to get into Zara, back in April, I think, not even a vial of sample was available. I had to control my curiosity and wait a little longer. I didn't really want to buy the Discovery Set. When I finally managed to smell all these EDP I found myself unable to choose my favorite. The perfumes have a different behavior in that paper testers and skin, so I decide to buy the Discovery Set and I have been testing it lately. Soon I'll tell you what I think!

5 - Shorts rhyme with summer. At leats in postuguese is like this. Is it reason enough to have this piece in our closet on hot days? In the closet or suitcase, of course! If you are looking for a basic piece that will serve you to go to the beach, to relax on the terrace, or even to go out, day or night, believe this model will suit you perfectly. I think it's one of those models that easily transitions from the beach to the Saturday night dinner, just change the shoes or accessories. These shorts in particular, I didn't buy, but I tried them on the store and loved them so much that I recommended them to my sister. Yes, she already has them and she already wants them in more colors, because they are beautiful, cheap and 100% cotton. They are just perfect! Run if you want them too!

Bem vos disse que ando viciada nesta mala. Não é nova, tem uns 5 anos no mínimo, foi uma prenda de aniversário do meu namorado e eu tenho usado imenso. Faz tempo que ando numa onda de malas mais pequenas, porque do alto dos meus 1.63 metros, acho que não fico bem com malas enormes, acho desproporcional. Já usei, mas hoje não faz sentido para mim, até porque não gosto de andar com a casa às costas. Ultimamente oscilava entre uma das minhas malas pretas, todas mais pequenas que esta, mas agora que o tempo aqueceu, não gosto tanto de juntar preto aos meus looks, no que a malas diz respeito. Esta tem roubado o meu coração por isso mesmo, por ser mais clara, no fundo por combinar melhor com cores mais claras, que inevitavelmente inundam o armário de verão. E na verdade esta mala não é tão grande assim, permite-me guardar as carteiras e óculos de sol e respetivas caixinhas, telemóvel e chaves, e fico por aqui! Tudo o que não me permita, no mínimo, as chaves de casa e do carro, o telemóvel e meia dúzia de cartões, para mim não dá. Confesso que não vou à bola com aquela moda das micro malas que surgiu recentemente com a tão famosa Le Chiquito da Jacquemus, nem tampouco com as microbags Lady Dior, 30 Montaigne, Dior Caro e Saddle da maison francesa. Tudo malas lindas e maravilhosas mas em tamanho micro, no no no, not for me!

I told you I've been hooked on this bag. It's not new, it's about 5 years old at least, it was a birthday gift from my boyfriend and I've been wearing it a lot. I've been on a wave of smaller bags for a long time, because from the height of my 1.63 meters, I think I don't do well with huge bags, I think it's disproportionate. I've used it, but today it doesn't make sense to me, because I don't like to walk around with the house on my back. Lately I've been oscillating between one of my black bags, all smaller than this one, but now that the weather has warmed up, I don't like adding black to my looks so much, as far as the bags are concerned. This one has stolen my heart for this very reason, for being lighter, in the background for combining better with lighter colors, which inevitably flood the summer closet. And actually this bag isn't that big, it allows me to keep my wallets and sunglasses and their respective boxes, cell phone and keys, and I'll stop here! Anything that doesn't allow me, at the very least, the keys to the house and the car, the cell phone and half a dozen cards, is not enough for me. I confess that I'm not loving that fashion of the micro bags that recently appeared with the so famous Le Chiquito by Jacquemus, nor with the microbags Lady Dior, 30 Montaigne, Dior Caro and Saddle of the french maison. All beautiful and wonderful bags but in micro size, no no no, not for me!

De volta aos looks. Tenho partilhado pouco por aqui os meus looks. Na real verdade andei muitas vezes vestida de fato de treino nos últimos tempos. Isso e roupa de treino em geral, porque se a pessoa vai treinar ao fim do dia e vai até estar por casa pode bem já vestir a roupa do treino de manhã.

A verdade é também que estou com muita vontade mesmo de destralhar metade do meu armário. Claro que vejo as lojas online e gosto de mil e uma coisas, mas devo comprar? Preciso? Não, nada disso. Nem tenho usado muita da roupa que tenho, mas sei que os últimos 15 meses não foram de todo exemplo porque acabamos por passar muito tempo em casa. Talvez por isso mesmo acabo a escolher looks mais básicos e monocromáticos ultimamente. Não me apetece pensar em combinações de cores e padrões, e eu gosto imenso destes looks mais básicos.

Inconscientemente voltei a usar aqui a mesma mala que usei no último look que fotografei. Uma daquelas coisas que estava meio encostada no fundo do armário mas que tenho voltado a usar muito nos últimos tempos. Vocês também são assim? Têm peças que usam muito, deixam de usar durante uma temporada e depois usam imenso de novo?

Voltei também a fazer o mesmo apanhado no cabelo, que aliás, é o que tenho feito sempre que ele está num dia mau. BTW, já cresceu imenso desde que o cortei no final do ano passado. Não o conseguia apanhar mas agora já dá! Não tarda estou com o cabelo a meio das costas de novo… mas enquanto isso não acontece vou mudar aqui qualquer coisa na cor, porque amigos, esta menina que vos escreve voltou a ganhar um passatempo no melhor salão da cidade. Ahahahahah, nem queria acreditar quando vi, mas me aguardem, que vou mudar um pouco!

Sinto que este post está um bocado aleatório mas é mesmo assim que andamos ultimamente!

Back to looks. I've not been sharing my looks here lately. In fact, I've been wearing a tracksuit many times lately. That and training clothes in general, because if the person is going to train at the end of the day and will even be at home, they might as well wear their training clothes in the morning.

The truth is also that I'm really looking forward to selling half of my closet. Of course I look at online stores and I like a thousand and one things, but should I buy? Is it necessary? No, nothing like that. I haven't even worn a lot of the clothes I have, but I know the last 15 months haven't been an example at all because we ended up spending a lot of time at home. Maybe that's why I end up choosing more basic and monochromatic looks lately. I don't feel like thinking about color and pattern combinations, and I really like these more basic looks.

Unconsciously I went back to using here the same bag I used in the last look I photographed. One of those things that was kind of leaning against the back of the closet but that I've been using a lot lately. Are you like that too? Do you have pieces that you use a lot, stop using for a season and then use a lot again?

I also went back to doing the same hair styling, which by the way, is what I've always done when he's having a bad day. BTW, it's grown a lot since I cut it at the end of last year. I couldn't catch it but now I can! Soon I have my hair halfway down my back again… but in the meantime I'm going to change something here in color, because friends, this girl who writes to you has won a giveaway in the best salon in town again. Ahahahahah, I couldn't believe it when I saw it, but wait for me, I'll change a little!

I feel this post is a bit random but that's how we've been lately!

Estamos a meio do mês. A Lista do Mês ainda vale? Vale sim, claro, sempre!

Fiz batota desta vez. Não sabia bem o que colocar aqui e em vez dos 5 itens que habitualmente vos recomendo venho apenas com 4. Na verdade o primeiro é um múltiplo, por isso vale na mesma! Contem-me qual o vosso item preferido!

1 - Tenho uma lista enorme de livros que quero ler. Romances e tantas outras coisas variadas. Tenho conseguido controlar o meu impulso e não comprar novos livros enquanto não li todos aqueles que já tenho cá em casa. Mas depois há estes coffe table books, que mais do que para ler, servem para decorar. Eu nem sequer bebo café, nem tenho mesinha de centro na sala, mas não interessa nada. Sei bem onde os colocaria. Qualquer um destes três (CATWALK DIOR, SOMETHING'S OFF e CATWALK CHANEL), que iam lindamente com as cores cá de casa, mas também os outros dois sobre moda que estão disponíveis no site da Zara Home (THE FASHION BOOK e CATWALK YVES SAINT LAURENT). Gente, faço anos no início do próximo mês!!

2 - Estou a precisar de biquinis novos? Não, nada disso, mas o verão está a chegar e com ele os inevitáveis dias de praia, e claro, toda a gente quer estar gira e na moda na praia também. Renovei o meu stock de biquinis no verão passado porque estava mesmo a precisar. Ia comprar um biquini com uma cueca assim, de cinta subida, mas já não tinha na cor que queria. Acabei por desistir da idéia mesmo depois de procurar online e em umas quantas lojas... Mas gosto imenso! Se é a peça que mais favorece o bronze? Não!! Mas resulta tão bem! E em boa verdade, se forem como eu, dificilmente voltarão aos modelos de cinta descida no que a jeans diz respeito, por isso, na verdade, o bronze nem pesa assim tanto na decisão de usar ou não uma cueca maior. Adoro estes modelos lisos e sem prints, e este Caparica Croco da Frederica é tudo o que se quer, só maravilhoso.

3 - Contei-vos num dos últimos posts que sou cheia de questões. E não apenas com temas relacionadas com moda. E se eu tivesse aceite a proposta do professor de música para entrar na orquestra do colégio? E se eu não tivesse escolhido artes no fim do 9º ano? E se eu tivesse concorrido a arquitetura? E se eu não fosse naquele dia àquela discoteca? E se os aviões não tivessem chocado com as torres gémeas? E se todos aqueles judeus não tivessem morrido no holocausto? Creio que essa resposta quase pode ser imaginada ao ler este livro. Vi-o recorrentemente em newsletters e montras de livrarias, e fiquei mesmo curiosa. Génio e Ansiedade – Como os Judeus mudaram o mundo entre 1847 e 1947, é obra do historiador de Norman Lebrecht, lançada em janeiro deste ano, e retrata como algumas figuras judias influenciaram o curso da história e nos ajudaram a chegar ao mundo como o conhecemos hoje. Desde transfusões sanguíneas, a quimioterapia, a automóveis a gasolina, passando ainda pela genética e agricultura, o livro retrata um punhado de homens e mulheres que transformaram o mundo com o seu pensamento rápido e fora da caixa. Personalidades geniais moldadas pela religião e cultura judaicas, mas também pelas pressões do antissemitismo. Em 1847, menos de 0,25% da população era de origem judaica, sendo que nada disso os impediu de deixar a sua marca no mundo. E se todos aqueles judeus não tivessem morrido no holocausto? Seria o mundo assim como o conhecemos hoje?

4 - Não é a primeira vez que falo desta marca aqui no blog numa lista do mês, mas desta vez trago-vos uma das mais recentes novidades. Sabiam que a Sanjo é a primeira marca de sapatilhas portuguesa? Nasceu em São João da Madeira, uma cidade mesmo aqui ao lado e onde tantas vezes vou, em 1933. O nome da marca é quase que como uma abreviatura do nome da cidade que durante anos foi a sua casa. As sapatilhas são totalmente made in Portugal, mas a Sanjo é muito mais que uma marca de calçado, agora temos também disponível roupa. Quem é nortenho sabe bem o jeito que dá uma sweat destas nos fins de tarde de primavera ou verão junto da praia. Adoro esta Sanjo Big Logo e já estou a imaginar um monte de combinações possíveis.

We are in the middle of the month. Is the List of the Month still valid? Yes, of course, always!

I cheated this time. I didn't really know what to put here and instead of the usually 5 items that I recommend to you I only come with 4. In fact, the first one is a multiple one, so it's still worth it! Tell me what is your favorite item!

1 - I have a huge list of books I want to read. Novels and so many other miscellaneous things. I have managed to control my impulse and not buy new books until I read all the ones I already have here at home. But then there are these coffee table books, which more than just read, they serve to decorate. I don't even drink coffee, I don't even have a coffee table in the living room, but it doesn't matter. I know where I would put them. Any of these three (CATWALK DIOR, SOMETHING'S OFF and CATWALK CHANEL), which went beautifully with the colors of my home, but also the other two about fashion that are available on Zara Home's website (THE FASHION BOOK and CATWALK YVES SAINT LAURENT) . Guys, I have my birthday at the beginning of next month!!

In 1847, less than 0.25% of the population was of Jewish origin, none of which stopped them from making their mark on the world. What if all those Jews hadn't died in the holocaust? Is the world as we know it today?

4 - It's not the first time I talk about this brand here on the blog in a list of the month, but this time I bring you one of the latest news. Did you know that Sanjo is the first Portuguese sneaker brand? He was born in São João da Madeira, a city right next door and where I go so often, in 1933. The brand name is almost like an abbreviation of the name of the city that for years was his home. The sneakers are totally made in Portugal, but Sanjo is much more than a shoe brand, now we also have clothes available. Those who are from the north know how convinient is to have a sweat like this in the late afternoons of spring or summer by the beach. I love this Sanjo Big Logo in green and I'm already imagining a lot of possible combinations.
